Löfler. Knaak. So Spielt Nigel Short.
Nigel Short was once traded as a child prodigy. He played instead of studying openings, had fun instead of a Soviet-style coaching staff. The high hopes placed in him were almost buried when he surprisingly prevailed against former world champion Anatoli Karpov in the candidates' tournament. At least since his final victory against Jan Timman, the journalists have been on his heels. Who is this skinny Englishman, born in 1965, who, with a mixture of pragmatism and intuition, made it to the challenger of World Champion Garry Kasparov?
The short story is not a short story. Stefan Löffler, prospective international master from Berlin, draws a multi-layered portrait of Nigel Short. The Leipzig grandmaster Rainer Knaak took a close look at the World Cup challenger's game. Sportverlag Berlin 1993. 146 pages. Algebraic notation.
Condition: Paperback. Slight use.
