EXTREMELY RARE, AND VERY SCARCE
"Schaakstrijd tusschen het Amsterdamsch genootschap Philidor en dat te Londen". Amsterdam heeft wit, Londen zwart.
Amsterdam, (1849). Private hardback marbled binding without Title or print. 102 unnumbered sheets, printed only on the front. 13,3 x 11 cm. In Dutch.
NOTE: On page 6 of "Correspondence Chess Bibliography 1822-2005" by Pagni, Meissenburg and Harding: "The copy in the Cleveland Public Library has been listed with 208 pages while another bibliographical description has 102 leaves, Royal Library The Hague: 1dl. Ongepagineerd; uitsluitend diagrammen; 14 cm". Probably, in the Cleveland copy the 2 safeguards have also counted, thus completing 208 pages.
Good: Scuffed binding, especially at the edges and corners. In the lower part of the spine, there is a small break, on both covers. Interesting annotation in the first safeguard with beautiful calligraphy, dated March 1850, which I believe mentions that "some corrections are included in the Amsterdam Courant in 1848 and 1849".

EXTREMELY RARE AND SCARCE!!
Never in my life have I seen this book up for auction. In the 32 editions of the Klittich-Pfankuch Auktion that I know, 2003 November - 2006 June, and 2008 November - 2020 November, a copy of this book was never auctioned.
