Original chess postcard signed by all players of the tournament which was organized in honor of 100 years of chess in the Slovak town Zlaté Moravce. The participants were: Opocensky, Pithart, Olexa, Prucha, Zobel, Seifert, Skacel, Ratolistka, Tarkay, Luknis, Adam, Hiller, Krebes.
The most known players of the tournament:
Karel Opocensky (1892-1975) - legendary Czech international master. He was four-time national champion (1927, 1928, 1938, and 1944) and played four times in the Chess Olympiads. He won individual gold (11,5/13) and team silver medals in Folkestone 1933 and team bronze in Prague 1931. Opocensky was also a chess publicist and is the author or co-author of several chess books. He was the chief arbiter for the World Chess Championship matches in Moscow 1951 and 1954, in the 10th Chess Olympiad in Helsinki 1952 and in the famous Candidate Tournament in Neuhausen/Zurich 1953. During his long career he met many chess stars behind the chessboard, such as Alekhine, Capablanca, Euwe, Smyslov, Tarrasch, Schlechter, Rubinstein, Nimzowitsch, Réti, Maroczy, Marshall, Bogoljubow, Janowski, Flohr, Keres, Tartakower, Spielmann, Breyer, Vidmar, Bronstein, Saemisch, Menchik, Junge, Gruenfeld, Fine, Eliskases, Lilienthal, Najdorf, Stahlberg, Pirc, Hort, Filip and others. He is also one of the few Czech chess players who defeated the reigning world champion. He defeated Alekhine in Munich 1941.
Frantisek Pithart (1915-2003) - Czech chess master, trainer, publicist and official. In the 1950s he was one of the leading Czech chess players. He participated in the Czechoslovak Chess Championships finals six times and twice (1955, 1965) won the bronze medal. He represented the national team of Czechoslovakia in the Chess Olympiads In Helsinki 1952 and in the European Team Chess Championship 1957 (bronze medal).
Karel Prucha (1901-1980) - Czech chess master, trainer, publicist and official. He participated in the Czechoslovak Chess Championships finals a few times (best result 8th place) and also played in the Prague International tournament in 1943 (12th place) where he lost to Alekhine (resigned in probably drawn position) and almost beat Keres (draw in a fighting game). He represented Czechoslovakia in a match against Bulgaria in 1949.
Vilem Olexa (1897-1975) - Czech chess master. He participated in the Czechoslovak Chess Championships finals a few times. In the match Brno - Moscow in 1946 he beat Alatortsev 1,5 : 0,5.
Zobel Leo (1895-1962) - Slovak chess master. 2nd place in Slovak Championship in 1957.
