DESCRIPTION

Kindermann, Vollständige Anweisung, das Schachspiel

Kindermann, Joseph K. Complete instruction to learn the game of chess thoroughly through a previous general lesson, then through the following explanations of the model games set up by the best masters, without further oral instruction, even without a teammate. Graz, Ferstl, 1795. 8°. With 1 title vignette and 1 (instead of 2) folded copper plate. Title, 5 ll., 259 pages. Cardboard binding. L/N 572; van der Linde I, 399; Schmid p. 213. First edition.

Joseph Karl Kindermann (1744 - 1801) made a name for himself through his scientific work in the field of geography and cartography. He also worked as a publicist and under his leadership the "Grätzer Zeitung" (Graz) achieved an important position among the Austrian newspapers. In order to fix the true lunchtime, he set up the meridian named after him on the Schlossberg in Graz in 1799. From the content: history and apology of chess. From the chess board. Philidors explained sample games. 17 other Philidorian varieties. Stamma's chess game tricks.

According to the instructions for the bookbinder, a copper is missing, which shows the diagram of a chessboard. It was delivered separately by the publisher in the period and is therefore missing from most of the edition; it should be mounted on cardboard at the bookbinder. In this book exactly the most time missing copperplate is bound in and the other more common plate is missing (enclosed as a copy).

Very rare and searched edition. Only once offered and sold at Klittich for more than € 1.000,-

Condition: Binding with a lot of wear and some soil. But everything still in place and tight. Slightly browned inside and slightly stained, sometimes stronger. Few pages with small defects. Overall Assessment = Good!

Postage EUR (insurance included): It depends on whether the shipment is made by parcel or registered mail. I try to choose the most cost-effective yet reliable way.

I combine shipping – you always pay just real postage! The packing materials are free.

I send with the so-called "Paketmarke" (for further information https://www.post.at/privat_versenden_paket_paketmarke.php) which is, in general, the most cost-effective and reliable way to send parcels to Austria. One feature is that the shipment costs are defined via the longest and the shortest side of the parcel. The weight isn´t important although it is limited to 31,5 kg. The parcel is also insured up to € 500,-.

  1. PM 045 = longest and the shortest side of the parcel is added max. 45 cm) GER=€9,90, other EU = €12,90
  2. PM 070 = longest and the shortest side of the parcel is added max. 70 cm) GER=€14,90, other EU = €17,90
  3. PM 120 = longest and the shortest side of the parcel are added max. 120 cm) GER=€19,90, other EU = €22,90

Therefore if you win more than 1 lot and the books fit into the same parcel, the shipping costs will be the same as for 1 book.

Important: Please wait with payment until you get my confirmation email, as the shipping costs have to be calculated.
