Correspondence Chess Postcard from the 2nd tournament of Le Monde Illustré sent by Vasily Ivanovich Tabunshchikov, Gatchina to Adolf Norlin, Stockholm 4.10 1890

This tournament run 1889-1892 with 25 players and was organized by Mikhail Chigorin in cooperation with the magazine Le Monde Illustré. Johann Berger won with 46½/48 (+45 =3 -0).

Vasily Tabunshchikov [4.3 1858 - 4.10 1913] lived in Gatchina near Saint Petersburg.

Adolf Norlin was a lieutenant [29.9 1858 - 15.8 1921] who lived in Stockholm. Norlin also composed several chess problems.

The postcard was sent 4.10 1890 [15.10 1890 according to the Gregorian calender] contains Tabunshchikov's 33rd move and has two postmarks of Gatchina and three arrival postmarks of Stockholm 20.10 1890. Besides the move Tabunshchikov tells about some of his other games.
