Bound in one volume, brown half leather, title-label on spine, spine and covers very rubbed. Title-page for Vol.1, pp iii (index for vol.1), 384, 184, (2) problems. There is no separate title-page for Vol.2, and no index was issued for Vol.2 as the magazine finished half way through 1854.
Includes games, problems, articles and chess news. LN 6128. v.d.Linde, Geschichte vol.2,p.122. DeLucia, "A Few Old Friends" 2nd Edn. p.133. Harrwitz was probably the world's best active player in the mid-1850s. "An excellent periodical except perhaps for it's bias against Staunton and his allies." (Oxford Companion to Chess.)
