Private quarter leather binding with gold Title in spine. 423 pages (including a portrait of Chigorin after page 258) + 1 unnumbered publisher page. Without Title page and Index, maybe as published (I cannot be 100% sure, and I have not been able to find anything about it on the Internet, but it is quite possible that since the magazine did not continue in 1894, and did not reappear until 1901, the Index and Title page for 1893 did not exist. I honestly do not know). Bound without covers. 24 x 16,3 cm. In Russian.

Good: Defects in the binding, visible in the photos, especially the wear on the edges and more on the spine. General very light foxing on practically all pages, more visible on some of them. Numerical annotation in blue ink on the top edge of page 1. Very slight crack at the top of the spine between pages 112-113. Remains of a fingerprint on the bottom edge of page 253. In good (maybe good to very good) condition with a solid binding. Please see all the photos, which are part of the description.

Since the first year 1891 was published with the Title "Шашечница" (L/N 6314; 256 Sakharov-2; Di Felice 2439) L/N and Di Felice give a code for the first year and a different one for the following years. However, Shakharov-2 gives only one code.

1891 - 1st Year (with Titlte "Шашечница"): numbers 1-6. Ed. by P. P. Bobrov & D. I. Sargin.

1892 - 2nd Year: numbers 7-18. Ed. by P. P. Bobrov & D. I. Sargin. Although in Sakharov-2 Sargin is mentioned as sole Editor/Publisher since number 17 of 1892, on the final pages of numbers 17 (page 408) and 18 (page 438) of 1892, both, Bobrov and Sargin, sign as Editors/Publishers. However, on the last page (46) of number 19 of the following year 1893, only Sargin signs as Editor/Publisher.

1893 - 3rd Year: numbers 19-30. Ed. by D. I. Sargin.

1901 - 4th Year: numbers 31-42. Ed. by P. P. Bobrov.

1902 - 5th Year: numbers 43-54. Ed. by P. P. Bobrov.

1903 - 6th Year: numbers 55-66.

1904 - 7th Year: numbers 67-78. Ed. by P. P. Bobrov. According to Sakharov-2, the promised numbers 77/78 didn't come out.

1909 - 8th Year: numbers 79-90. Ed. by P. P. Bobrov.

1910 - 9th Year: numbers 91-95. Ed. by P. P. Bobrov.
