DESCRIPTION

"The 1000 Best Short Games of Chess" by Irving Chernev. Published in hardback by Hodder and Stoughton in 1957. First UK Edition. 555pp. Betts 24-80. The book is in Good condition. The binding is good but a little shaky and the gutter is just visible at the rear endpaper (see scan). The internal pages are clean and unmarked. The volume appears to be inscription and annotation free apart from a previous owner's name on the front pastedown. The book boards are very clean and the book has no shelf lean. There is no foxing present. The page edge block has tanned, from age only. The dustjacket is also in Good condition. It has tiny loss and creasing to the head and tail of the spine area and also suffers from some scuffing, especially to the rear panel (see scan). Games are in English descriptive notation. Quite a scarce book in its dustjacket. Further scanned images are available on request. Heavy! Approx.unpacked weight: 885g. Uninsured postage by Royal Mail within the UK: £4.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. Any questions, please just ask.
