The forerunner of all MCO's: "Modern Chess Openings", Volume 1 by Griffith & White. Published in semi-stiff card covers by J.H. White and The British Chess Magazine in 1911. FIRST EDITION. 190pp. Betts 13-75. The book was previously owned by George Wainwright, the British Amateur Champion of 1889 and his pencilled autograph adorns the front endpaper. The book is in Very Good condition for its age and has clearly been well cared for over the years. The covers are clean although there is a mild crease to the top, right of the front cover (see scan). The page edge block is clean although tanned from age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean. The internal pages are all very clean and annotation free. The book is free of foxing. Medium sized (180 mm x 120mm). Further scanned images are available on request. 'Signed For' postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £4.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. Any questions, please just ask.
