Podebrady 1936

Photoalbum with 18 photos

Photo album from the Podebrady 1936 international tournament.

Hard covers joined with a string. The album contains 7 sheets with 18 photos of various sizes (see below). Size 33 x 26 cm. 520 grams.

Good: covers a little stained and a little worn, top corners somewhat bumped. Light/some general signs of use, no major flaws.

The photos are pasted on the rectos, the rear sides of the sheets is empty. The sheets are protected by thin tissue paper

The sheets contain following photos:

Sheet 1: 2 photos of the town, sizes ca 12.5 x 8 cm and 13.5 x 8 cm.

Sheet 2: large-size (23.5 x 17.5 cm) group photo of participants of the international tournament. Sitting: Salo Flohr (the winner ahead of Alekhine), Alexander Aljechin, Vera Mencikova, Paulin Frydman, Lajos Steiner, Kurt Richter, Sir G. A. Thomas.

Standing:  Vasja Pirc, Jiri Pelikan, Karel Skalicka, Karel Treybal, Jan Foltys, Erich Eliskases, Gideon Stahlberg, Emil Zinner, Vladimir Petrov, Karel Opocensky.

Sheet 3: 4 photos: top left Karel Opocensky 11 x 8.5 cm; top right Erich Eliskases 11 x 8.5 c; down on the left = unrecognized 11 x 8.5 cm; down on the right Lajos Steiner 11.5 x 8 cm.

Sheet 4: 3 photos: top left Pavel Herman (Herrmann, winner of the Main tournament) 11.5 x 8 cm; top right = unrecognized 11 x 8.5 cm; down = unrecognized 11 x 8.5 cm;

Sheet 5: this sheet shows 3 photos, probably officials, organizers or arbiters. Top: unrecognized person, Amos Pokorny, Jiri Kauder(?); down on the left = 2 unrecognized persons 11 x 8.5 cm; down on the right: in the middle Amos Pokorny, the others are unrecognized, 11 x 8.5 cm.

Sheet 6: 2 photos, 13.5 x 8.5 cm each. A) group photo of the National Master tournament. Sitting: Hasek, May, Engel, Schubert, Kauder (organizer), Paroulek, Barta, Olexa. Standing: Hromadka (the winner), Kubanek, Bartosek, Gilg,, Hadac, Reiter, Grguric.

B) group photo of participants of the Main tournaments (the winner Pavel Herman is sitting third from the left).
