Scoresheet from Praha 1943

(the Main tournament of the 17th Congress UJCS)

2x signed by both players

 

2 scoresheets (= one game, 81 moves) Pithart-Fichtl from the 17th Congress of the Czechoslovak Chess Union (UJCS, Ustredni jednota ceskych sachistu) in Praha 1943, tournament Hlavni A, from 15. 8. 1943

Scoresheet is written in old pencil in Pithart's hand, size 21 x 16.5 cm. The game was played in the 1st round of the Main Tournament A1 of the XVIIIth Congress of Czech Chess Union. The games ended as a draw in 81 moves. Jiri Fichtl won the A1 tournament with a score 6.5 of 7.

After the Master tournament, there were several Main tournaments of about same strength. Tournament A1 was one of them.

The scoresheets are signed twice by both players: 1) at the end of the first scoresheet; 2) at the end of the game.

Good condition: some wear around edges, a little soiled, horizontal center fold. 

Biographical data:

Frantisek Pithart (1915-2003), Czech master (since 1951) and noted trainer. One of the best Czech players after wws. He participated many times in the finals of Czechoslovak championships - his best results were 2x shared third place in 1955 and 1965. He represented Czechoslovakia in the chess olympiad Helsinki 1952 and in European team championship 1957. Author of many books and articles.

Jiri Fichtl (1922-2003), Czech IM, one of the best Czechoslovak players in 1950s-60s, 2x Czechoslovak champion. In 1954-1962, he played in 5 olympiads.
