Moscow 1959
game Boris Spassky – Miroslav Filip
large photo size 18.5 x 16.5 cm
Fair to good: brown spots on the back. These spots also appear on the front side, but are weaker. Pen note Moskva, duben (=April) 1959 and signature of photographer (N. Semenova) on the back.
Moscow 1959 (Alekhine Memorial) was a strong tournament with result 1-3. Bronstein, Smyslov, Spassky 7/11, 4.-6. Filip, Portisch, Vasjukov 6 etc., 12 players.
Biographical data:
Boris Spassky (born 1937), World champion 1969-1972.
Miroslav Filip (1928-2009), Czech GM, the best Czechoslovak player in 1950s, one of world's best chess players around 1960, World Championship Candidate 1956 and 1962. GM Filip is also well known as arbiter (Karpov - Korchnoi, Baguio 1978, women world championships etc).
