DESCRIPTION

7th Tournament of Nations (Chess Olympiad) Stockholm 1937.

1364 (of 1376) score sheets from The Seventh Chess Olympiad, played in Stockholm 1937. These numbers include 8 empty score sheets from round 1 and round 2 (signed by the players from Yugoslavia and Latvia who were waiting for their opponents from Romania to show up).

The score sheets are in the hand of the players. Most are originals but a few are carbon copies. Most score sheets are signed by both players, and thus have signatures from players like: Reshevsky, Fine, Kashdan, Marshall, Horowitz, Lilienthal, Szabó, Steiner E., Havasi, Vajda, Tartakower, Najdorf, Frydman, Appel, Regedziński and many more.

Two score sheet per game except as specified below:

One score sheet (of two) is missing from the games:

Reshevsky, Samuel Herman-Mikenas, Vladas 1-0 (1). Vaitonis, Povilas-Fine, Reuben 0-1 (1). Kashdan, Isaac-Vistaneckis, Isakas 1-0 (1). Castaldi, Vincenzo-Tartakower, Saviely 1-0 (2). Keres, Paul-Euwe, Max 0-1 (2). Steiner, Endre-Poulsen, Chr. ½-½ (10). Stoltz, Goesta-Reid, Peter 0-1 (14). Both score sheets are missing from the game:

Sørensen, Ernst-Szabo, Laszlo 0-1 (10) -but this game is known from other sources.

This lot also includes arbiters list of players/games and adjourned games. The score sheets are kept in envelopes with the official logo from the olympics.

USA won in front of Hungary. Approximately 300 games from this event have never been published.

Condition: Written on white paper. A few are carbon copies and harder to read. Notations are individual and several score sheets have errors and omissions in move recording.
