DESCRIPTION

Ponziani, Domenico L. Il Giuoco incomparabile degli Scacchi,

suiluppato con nuovo metodo, per condurre chiunque colla maggiore facilita dai primi elementi sino alle finezze piu' magistrali. Opera d'Autore Modenese, divisa in tre parti ... Prima Edizione Romana eseguita su quella di Modena del 1782. With 3 diagrams. VIII, 242 pages, Rom, Ercole, 1829. Schmid p. 276f . van der Linde I, 375. Linde - N. 532.

Domenico Ponziani was a professor of civil law and one of the leading Italian authors of the 18th century and the most famous representative of the Modena Chess School. With the work "Il Giuoco incomparabile degli Scacchi" he made an important contribution to chess theory. Ponziani propagated the open game, the pawns were rams for the pieces. The "Ponziani - opening" is named after him. The whole work is divided into three parts, the first of which contains general rules and an appreciative critique of the well - known authors of the time. In the second part, which is again divided after the openings, follows the Giuoco piano with the various rochades, the bishop game and the variations of the knights opening, the irregular openings, the kings gambit, and in the fifth section the queens gambit ... The last part contains regular endgames and 50 artificial endings, which, just like the openings, are distinguished by an extremely great accuracy. (schmid p. 276)

Condition: Simple modern bindin. Inside many spots and miscolorations.
