DESCRIPTION

"Emmanuel Lasker: The Life of a Chess Master" by Dr.J. Hannak. Published in hardback by Andre Deutsch in 1959. First US Edition. 320pp. Betts 29-65. The book is in Good Plus condition for its age. The binding is good but with a slight shelf lean. The boards are clean. The edge blocks are tanned from age and handling. Internally the book has the feel of having been quite well read. There is a pen mark and a removed price on the front endpaper (see scan) plus a previous owner's name on the front pastedown, under the dustjacket flap. There is a penned correction to the text on the Foreword page plus a game annotation on page 72 and another on page 241 (see scans). I could not find any other pen lines or annotations. The remaining internal pages are clean although they have tanned a little around the extremities. The dustjacket is also in Good Plus condition. It is complete but has discolouration to note along the spine area and light scuff marks. The head and tail of the spine have miniscule loss (top) or crumpling (tail). The dustjacket is now protected by a superior 'Gaylord' removable see-through sleeve. Games are given in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request. Uninsured postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £3.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. Any questions, please just ask.
