"CHESS, Sutton Coldfield. Volume 14". Bound in publisher's brown hardback. All ten magazines (the final issue of the year was a "triple" one) for Volume 14 (Oct 1948 - Sept 1949, Magazine Numbers 157 to 168, inclusive). Betts 7-91. First Edition. 248pp + 40pp. Includes pages 1-40 of the "Groningen, 1946 Tournament" Special Supplement (spread over 2 magazines). Includes index. The volume is in Good Plus condition, for its age. The binding is good (not tight, there is a little "give" in it) and there is no shelf lean. The covers are very clean although there is a small dent at the top of the rear board and superficial loss to the board tip (see scan). The gilt lettering on the spine has worn away although the lettering can still be just about read. Internally the volume is very clean and appears to be inscription free apart from a few numbers in pen at the top, right corner of the front endpaper (see scan). The page edge block is lightly tanned. Free of foxing although the endpapers have tanning (see scan). The magazines do NOT have the commonly seen vertical crease on them. Games are in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request. Uninsured postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £3.00.
