DESCRIPTION

"MALEVÕISTLUSTE BÜLLETÄÄN" 1960

VERY RARE AND EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND

Spectacular report of the XVII CH. of Estonian Soviet Republic (1st Nei)

and great report on the 1960 Pärnu Tournament (1st Keres and Estonia)

Sakharov-2 2015

Di Felice 1688.1 about Pärnu 1960

Di Felice 2270.1 about Viljandi 1960- 17th Estonian Championship

Hindre, H. (Ed.): "Malevõistluste bülletään". The following 2 text appears on the last page: ESTONIAN TEXT - Kõigi maade proletaariased, ühinege! MALEVÕISTLUSTE BÜLLETÄÄN. Eesti NSV Spordiühingute ja organisatsioonide Liidu Nõukogu Vabariikliku Spordiklubi ja Eesti NSV maleföderatsiooni väljaanne. Tallinn, 1960. Google Translator: Proletarians of all lands, unite! CHESS BULLETIN. Publication of the Republican Sports Club of the Council of Sports Associations and Organizations of the Estonian SSR and the Chess Federation of the Estonian SSR. Tallinn, 1960. RUSSIAN TEXT - "Бюллетень шахматньіх состязаний" на эстонском язьіке. Google Translator: "Bulletin of Chess Competitions" in Estonian.

Tallinn, Eesti NSV maleföderatsiooni, 1960. Original softback edition. 48 pages (containing 15 photos). 28,6 x 22,1 cm. In Estonian. Edition of 3000 copies. It is a kind of Estonian Yearbook, of which I have no news of its continuation. No publication of this Bulletin appears in Sakharov-2 in the following years. So 1960 is almost certainly the only year it was published.

Good: Strong browning on the edges and spine of the covers, perhaps related to the relatively large water spot in the upper half of the lateral outer edge affecting practically all pages, and to the small water spot that affects the lower outer corner of a few pages. Inside with some slight wrinkle, more visible in the upper outer corner, normal browning, and few small spots, 2 of them affecting pages 13-16, other on pages 33-34, and a couple more. Otherwise, the condition is reasonably good, and the defects mentioned are not unpleasant.

Sakharov-2 2015; Di Felice 1688.1 and 2270.1 (Chess Competitions 1824-1970).

Spectacular content. Here is a selection of the most important articles:

1- Märkmeid maailmameistrimatsilt. Suurmeister Paul Keres (Notes from the World Cup. Grandmaster Paul Keres). MIHHAIL TAL - MALEMAAILMAMEISTER (Chess World Champion). Pages 2-5.

2- Soomlased kaotasid ka seekord (The Finns lost again). Page 5. Light History of the Estonia-Finland Matches, and Results of the 1960 Double Round Match, which Estonia won 13,5:8,5.

3- VAATLEJA PILGUGA (OBSERVER AT A GLANCE) by H. Hindre. Pages 6-30. Spectacular report of the XVII Championship of the Soviet Republic of Estonia (1st Nei) played in Viljandi. Neither the Tournament nor its games appear in CHESSBASE!! It includes Cross-tables, about 75 games (many analyzed), 8 photos, and cartoons of the 16 players.

IMPORTANT HISTORICAL NOTE: It is necessary to make known that this XVII Championship of the Soviet Republic of Estonia, is actually the XXX Official Championship of Estonia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estonian_Chess_Championship). The explanation lies in the military occupation of Estonia (actually the Baltic States) by the Soviet Union in 1944 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_occupation_of_the_Baltic_states_(1944)). Previously, in 1940, the Soviet Union also did it, but the German advance during World War II achieved the occupation of the Baltic States between 1941 and 1944, to be reoccupied in 1944 by the Soviet Union. "We could say" that so in 1944 the 1st edition of the Estonian Soviet Republic Championship and the 14th edition of the Estonian Championship "actually took place at the same time". Logically only one Tournament took place in Viljandi 1944.

4- Kolm päeva külas lõunanaabritel (Three days in the village of the southern neighbors) by H. Pohla. Pages 34-38. Report on the 1960 Latvia-Estonia Match.

5- SUURTURNIIR PÄRNUS (MAJOR TOURNAMENT IN PÄRNU) by H. Pohla. Pages 39-47. Great report on the 1960 Pärnu Tournament, won by Keres (12 points, ahead of Uusi with 11 points), in its Individual Category, and by Estonia in its Team Category (31 points, ahead of Latvia with 25, 5 points). It includes about 25 games without comments but with a chronicle of each round, 1 photo group, and Cross-tableIn CHESSBASE it appears as Baltic Tournament.
