Checkmate 1902/03 (October 1902 – September 1903).  

Prescott, Canada, 1902-1903. Later cloth, spine lettered. (4) = title, index + 288 pages. Size ca 22.5 cm. The weight 550 grams. LN 6385, Betts 7-46. In English.

Good: edges slightly rubbed. Previous owner's stamp on front pastedown - problem composer and collector Ilja Mikan. On the verso of the title-page is a small unidentified stamp of another previous owner overlaid with a paper label. In the problem section occasionally Mikan's non-disturbing notes in red crayon or pen.

Complete volume 2, numbers 1-12 including title page and index. No plates were issued in this year.

Checkmate is a Canadian monthly magazine, published in Prescott by J. H. Graham in 1901-1904, three volumes in all.
