The play was first performed in 1624 at the Globe Theater. It is a political allegory on the unrealized marriage between Prince Charles and the Infanta Maria of Spain. The work is a satirical attack on Spain and the Catholic Church. The framework of the drama is a chess game, in which the pieces represent the political actors. White depicts England and Black Spain. This edition also contains information on the historical background and explanations. Print on tinted paper.
Condition: Paper yellowed. Many pencilled notes inside. Sun bleached covers.
