"The Fifth American Chess Congress, 1880" by Charles Gilberg. Published in hardback by Brentano's in 1881. First Edition. 539pp. Betts 25-14. The volume is in Good overall condition for its age. The covers are in Fair condition and internally the volume is in Very Good condition, resulting in an overall Good condition appraisal. The binding is tight and there is no bowing present. However, as can be seen from the scanned images, the boards are strongly stained/faded and the spine area is heavily stained, faded and has light damage at the head & tail. The volume has a moderate shelf lean. The page edge blocks are strongly but evenly tanned. Internally the picture is much better. The volume is inscription, foxing and annotation free. The internal pages are all clean and unmarked apart from a very few small specks or light creases (see scans). Scarce. Uninsured postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £4.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details.
