Signed by almost all (11 of 12) participants

 

Good to very good: light general signs of use, minor wear to corners, signatures and some pen notes on the back.

The winner was Alster, 9 of 11, ahead of Brat, Altschul, Filip etc., 12 players round robin (see crosstable). Picture 3 shows the cross-table of the tournament. An article about this tournament (not the photo) is in the magazine Ceskoslovensky sach 1946, page 81

Some persons in the photo are:

Frantisek Zita – trainer, first from the left

Ladislav Alster – the winner, to the right of Zita

Miroslav Filip – in the back, the tallest

Zdenek Martinek – on the first step in the middle, many years the director of Chocen Junior championships.

Signatures on the back from top to bottom:

Altschul, Prokop, Hejduk, Alster, Tomasek, Filip (next to Tomasek), Simonik, Kadera, Brat, Vykydal, Dusek (Hrozek is missing).

Biographical data of some participants:

Ladislav Alster (1927-1991), Czechoslovak champion in 1956, was a member of team which won world student championship in Oslo 1954, took part in chess olympiad Moscow 1956.

Miroslav Filip (1928-2009), Czech GM, one of world's best chess players around 1960, World Championship Candidate 1956 and 1962. Multiple Czechoslovak chess champion.

Frantisek Zita (1909-1977), Czech IM, 2x co-winner of Czech(oslovak) championship, multiple winner of Prague chess championship. Zita was strong positional player, took part on 5 chess olympiads.
