"Groningen, 1946 - Het Staunton Wereldschaaktournai" by M. Euwe and H. Kmoch. Published in hardback by J. Niemeijer in 1947. First Edition. In Dutch language and algebraic notation. 392 large pages. L/N: 5677. The book is in Good Minus condition for its age. The binding is good (not "tight" as there is some movement to the spine) and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The book has the feel of having been well read. The boards are faded and lightly stained with indentations visible "in the light". The gilt lettering on the spine has worn almost completely away. The page edge blocks are heavily tanned from age and handling. Internally the vast majority of the pages are unmarked but several have small dog ear corners or a child's penned squiggles (see scans). There is a penned dedication on the front endpaper and a doodle on the front pastedown (see scan). One double page has some speckling stains from dried liquid (see final scan). A reading copy only but still a monumental and historic chess tournament volume. Several pages of glossy black and white photos. Uninsured postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £3.00. Postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details.
