Nasra Bey, G. & Belleli, Alex: "Greetings from Egypt to Thomas Rainer Dawson". 50th Birthday Anniversary - 28th November 1939. Edited by G. Nasra Bey and Alex. Belleli.

Alexandria (Egypt), self-published, 1939. Original stapled softback edition. 1 sheet with Half Title page and Compliments page + 16 pages (including Title page) + Errata page. 24,8 x 17,1 cm. In English.

Fair: Covers with some dirt. 2 cm tear base of spine, sticker of British Chess Problem Society on inside front cover, mentioning that this copy was donated by Dennison Nixon to the British Chess Problem Society, pencilled ticks/notation throughout and various wrinkles. Slight rust on the staples.

L/N 2821; Kieler Schachkatalog 6926; Betts 39-18Betts: "Contains an essay on Dawson and 67 problems (62 Fairies) by the editors and others. Solutions appear on p.14-16."

Complimentary booklet published to commemorate the 50th birthday anniversary of Dawson, and including 12 of Dawson's problems and 80 by Egyptian composers. Although there are only 67 diagrams in the Egyptian Problems section, 13 of them, varying the position, have an alternative solution.

Dennison Nixon (13-12-1912 - 11-09-1993) British composer

Dennison Nixon became the editor of the "Fairy Chess Review" (1952-1956) after T.R.Dawson's death. He was mainly a fairy composer with many original ideas and was an International Judge.

He composed the first Grid Chess problem, as can be seen in the article about Grid chess in "Variant Chess" 2002, which can be read on G.P. Jelliss' site.
