DESCRIPTION

"The Chess Review, 1936. Volume 4" edited by Israel Horowitz. Published in hardback by The Chess Review in 1936. First Edition. 296 large pages. Betts 7-76. All twelve magazines for the year 1937. Covers bound in. Includes index. The volume is in Good overall condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards are discoloured with a dried liquid stain but this has barely affected the board colour (see scans). The spine area has darkened and faded. The gilt lettering has worn away although the words can still be read. Internally the volume is inscription free apart from a previous owner's name and address on the front pastedown. The internal pages are annotation and foxing free although the aforementioned liquid stain has left its mark in the top gutter (see scan) but this mark fades away around page 85. The pages are clean but have strong tanning to the extremities and there is the occasional crease or speck mark, less than commensurate with age (see scans). The page edge blocks are evenly tanned from age. Games and positions are given in English descriptive notation. Scarce. Further scanned images are available on request. PLEASE NOTE: AUCTION ITEMS WON FROM BIDDERS IN THE EU (and The USA, etc) WILL HAVE THEIR GOODS POSTED FROM THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND (part of the EU) AND THIS WILL, HOPEFULLY, AVOID THE NEW BREXIT POSTAL TAX. (N.B. Customers in the GB area will have their goods posted from Northern Ireland - part of GB - as usual). Any questions, please just ask.
