Lolli's book is divided into three parts : the first deals with openings from Ercole del Rio's book, Sopra il giuoco degli Scacchi (page 45) ; the second part consists of a treatise on defense against the first move pertaining to new variations from Del Rio's book with deep annotations by Lolli ; and the last section deals with the ending which is a collection of 100 problems by various composers, 20 by Ercole del Rio and 12 by Lolli.
