Spectacular and beautiful full color Catalog from Christie's Auction, London (South Kensington), 2006, with a description and photograph of the 218 Chess Sets from the Auction.
The Auction Star Chess set is 218, valued between 23.000-30.000 EUR. Curiously, only the first 217 appear in the auction results, so perhaps 218 was not part of the auction. This 218 set was exhibited at Chess Collectors International 9th Congress, 2000. Lot 38 fetched the highest price, selling for GBP 18,000.
