2007 "JUREK LEWI"

LIMITED EDITION OF 200 COPIES

Signed by the 3 Authors!!

Kulik, Wojciech; Lissowski, Tomasz and Przysuski, Feliks (wspólpraca: Ryszard Sternik): "Jurek Lewi".

Warszawa, Wydawnictwo Szachowe "Penelopa", 2007. Original softback edition. 180 pages + (1). 25 x 17,7 cm. In Polish.

Excellent: No defect worth mentioning. Only a very slight friction on the covers. Inside like new. The photos will be added in the next few days, at the latest, before 17:00 on Sunday 26.

Excellent Biography about Jerzy Lewi, a Polish player, who died very young, at the age of 23, when he was one of the great hopes of Polish Chess, because at his young age he had been 4 times Polish Youth Champion (according to Lissowski, although Wikipedia and Konikowski they say that he was 5 times) and 1 time Absolute Champion in 1969. However, his life had a tragic end, as he had to go into exile in Sweden, due to the political problems in Poland in 1968, and his life had a tragic end in Lund (Sweden), with a car accident (run over), which to this day is still not fully clarified.

The book is divided into 2 main parts. The 1st is a spectacular Biography (pages 7-98), and the 2nd is an excellent Games section (pages 99-173), with the first 30 commented (pages 99-123), and 168 uncommented games (a small part with slight comments), as well as 2 positions and 2 games with results but without moves (pages 124-173). I suspect it must be a complete record of all of Jurek Lewi's games.

SOLD OUT! It is practically impossible to find today!

Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerzy_Lewi

"Jerzy Lewi (22 April 1949, Wrocław – 30 October 1972, Lund) was a Polish chess master.

He won five-times Polish Junior championships in 1965–1969. He took 3rd, behind Anatoly Karpov and Andras Adorjan, at Groningen 1967 (European Junior Championship). In 1968, he tied for 2nd-5th in Łódź (25th Polish Championship). In 1969, he won in Lublin (26th POL-ch). He took 12th at Athens 1969 (zonal; Milan Matulović won), and had decided to stay in the West. As a refugee, because of the 1968 Polish political crisis, he lived in Sweden where he died in a traffic accident. He was buried in a Jewish cemetery in Malmö."
