DESCRIPTION

"The British Chess Magazine, part 1905 and the whole of 1906, bound in one volume". Published in black hardback by Trubner & Co in 1906. First Edition. Betts 7-27. The contents are: Issues May - Dec 1905 (plus index for the year) and all 12 issues of the year 1906 (plus index for the year). 319pp + 536pp. The volume is in Good Plus condition for its age and has clearly been well cared for over the years. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards have some discolouration/fading (see scans). The gilt lettering on the spine reads: "British Chess Magazine Vol XXV" but this is inaccurate for the reasons given above. It is 8 consecutive issues of Vol 25 plus all 12 issues of Vol 26 (and the index for each year). Internally the volume is clean and appears to be inscription and annotation free. There are a few pages that have small speck stains or creases (see scan) on but these depredations are less than commensurate with age. The November 1905 issue was wrongly printed at the time as "October 1905" and a previous owner has amended this error in pen (see scan). The top of a few pages have age discolouration (see scans) and the vast majority of the internal pages have mild age related discolouration to their extremities but this is, again, less than commensurate with age, in my humble opinion. The page edge blocks are tanned from age, particularly the top edge. The leather board corners have mild superficial damage. Scarce. 'Signed For' postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £5.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. PLEASE NOTE: AUCTION ITEMS WON FROM BIDDERS IN THE EU (and The USA, etc) WILL HAVE THEIR GOODS POSTED FROM THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND (part of the EU) AND THIS WILL, HOPEFULLY, AVOID THE NEW BREXIT POSTAL TAX. (N.B. Customers in the GB area will have their goods posted from Northern Ireland - part of GB - as usual). Any questions, please just ask.
