"The British Chess Magazine, 1904". Published in dark green hardback by Trubner & Co in 1904. First Edition. Vol 24. Betts 7-27. 500pp plus Index. The volume is in Good Minus condition for its age. Formerly the property of the Hampstead Chess Club in London. The club stamp and the circled handwritten entry: "HCC4" is on both endpapers, the title page and on at least 3 of the volumes internal pages. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present although the hinge is very slightly exposed on a couple of pages (see scan). The boards have some discolouration and a small area of white speckling (see scans). A tea cup ring is visible on the front board when "in the light". The gilt lettering on the spine reads: "British Chess Magazine 1904". Internally the volume is clean and appears to be annotation free. However, very many of the internal pages have either age related staining or quite strong creases from poor handling. Some pages are marked in several places (see scans). A few pages have damage to extremities and one double page has a clear sellotape repair (see last scan). The page edge blocks are tanned from age, particularly the top edge. The board corners and two small areas on the spine have moderate superficial damage. Scarce. 'Signed For' postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £5.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details.
