"101 Partijen van het Europees Schaaktournooi te Hilversum, 1947" by Max Euwe. Published in maroon hardback by L.G.Eggink in 1947. First Edition. 208pp. LN: 5708. The book is in Very Good condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards are clean. The gilt lettering on the front board has faded slightly but is still very clear. The book is inscription, annotation and foxing free. The page edge blocks are evenly tanned from age. Internally the pages have tanned a little due to the poorer quality of paper available so soon after the end of WW2. These pages are, however, very clean and stain free and it is obvious that this book has been well cared for over the years. No dustjacket (unlikely that one was ever issued). This tournament was the first Zonal Tournament after the war to start the process of finding a new World Champion after the death of Alekhine in 1946. Games are given in Dutch language and algebraic notation. Further scanned images are available on request. Uninsured postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £3.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details.
