"The British Chess Magazine, 1891". Published in dark blue hardback by Trubner & Co in 1891. First Edition. Vol 11. Betts 7-27. 568pp plus Index. The volume is in Good condition for its age. The binding was severely damaged along the spine at some point in the past resulting in the leather repair seen in the scans being glued to the damaged area. The binding now feels very strong. There is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards are clean (a tea cup ring stain is visible on the rear board) but there is strong superficial damage to the board tips. Internally the volume is very clean and appears to be annotation free. Previous chess club ownership written in ink on the front endpaper. There is mild foxing and scuffing to the pastedowns and endpapers but the vast majority of internal pages are very clean and presentable. The page edge blocks (particularly the top edge block) are tanned from age but are in a beautiful marble effect finish (see scan). Rare. 'Signed For' postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £5.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details.
