Six postcards with caricatures of players from the Prague 1990 tournament by Czech cartoonist Ota Masek. Each postcard is signed by the player shown on it: Timman, Short, Hort, Kavalek, Smejkal and Ftacnik. A signed caricature of the tournament's main commentator Vlastimil Jansa is included as a bonus. This postcard is not related to the Prague 1990 tournament. It was issued on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Prague Chess Club Bohemians.
Prague 1990 was the first international chess tournament in Czechoslovakia after the fall of communism as a tribute to democracy. The tournament was held on the initiative of Lubomir Kavalek and with the assistance of the World Grandmaster Association GMA and its chairman Bessel Kok from 27 August to 2 September 1990 at the Hotel Intercontinental in Prague. The tournament was under the auspices of President Vaclav Havel, who played his famous game against Bessel Kok at the opening of the tournament.
Participants of the tournament were Jan Timman, Nigel Short, Vlastimil Hort, Lubomir Kavalek, Jan Smejkal and Lubomir Ftacnik. The main commentator was Vlastimil Jansa. During the tournament there was a GMA meeting and some of its members played a simul against the public (Bent Larsen, Alexander Beliavsky, Ljubomir Ljubojevic, Jan Timman, Nigel Short, Bachar Kouatly)
