DESCRIPTION

"Chess Review, 1948 (Vol 16)" edited by Isaac Horowitz and Kenneth Harkness. Published in maroon hardback by the editors in 1947. First Edition. Betts 7-76. Approx. 380 large pages. Includes index. All twelve magazines for the calendar year of 1948. The volume is in Fair Plus condition for its age. The boards are reasonably clean although there is sunning evident on the spine area and mild staining on the boards (see scans). No dustjacket. The binding is only in Fair condition as the hinge feels shaky as though it has landed on a hard surface and been mishandled in the past. The hinge is visible at the rear of the volume (see scan). There is no shelf lean or bowing present. Internally the volume appears to be inscription, annotation and foxing free apart from the occasional tick at the beginning of games. The internal pages have browned a little from age and I noted two pages with clear sellotape repairs. Covers bound in although the front cover of the November issue as been torn out along with the rear endpaper and a corner of a page that presumably contained an advert (see scans). The page edge blocks are evenly tanned from age. Further scanned images are available on request. Heavy. Uninsured postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £4.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. PLEASE NOTE: AUCTION ITEMS WON FROM BIDDERS IN THE EU (and The USA, etc) WILL HAVE THEIR GOODS POSTED FROM THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND (part of the EU) AND THIS WILL, HOPEFULLY, AVOID THE NEW BREXIT POSTAL TAX. (N.B. Customers in the GB area will have their goods posted from Northern Ireland - part of GB - as usual). Any questions, please just ask.
