"CHESS, Sutton Coldfield, Volume 4" edited by B.H.Wood. Bound in brown hardback (a shade lighter than the publishers brown). All twelve magazines for Volume 4 (Oct 1938 - Sept 1939. Magazine Numbers 37 to 48, inclusive). 450pp. Includes index and title page. Betts 7-91. The volume is in Very Good overall condition for its age. The binding is very good (not "tight" as there is a little give in it) and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards are clean. The gilt lettering on the spine is just about still visible, see scan. Internally the magazine covers ARE bound in. The pages are clean and inscription free although a couple of magazines have the often seen vertical crease from having been in the post back in the day. The pages have, of course, tanned over the years but are still well preserved and it is obvious that this volume has been well cared for since 1939. The page edge block is clean. Free of foxing apart from a couple of light areas on the pastedowns and endpapers (see scans). Board tips bent inwards a little. Games are in English descriptive notation. Scarce. Further scanned images are available on request. Heavy. 'Signed For' postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £5.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. PLEASE NOTE: AUCTION ITEMS WON FROM BIDDERS IN THE EU (and The USA, etc) WILL HAVE THEIR GOODS POSTED FROM THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND (part of the EU) AND THIS WILL, HOPEFULLY, AVOID THE NEW BREXIT POSTAL TAX. (N.B. Customers in the GB area will have their goods posted from Northern Ireland - part of GB - as usual). Any questions, please just ask.
