Frantisek Pithart – Emanuel Basta

17th Congress of the UJCS Praha 1943 (Main tournament)

Carbon copy of a scoresheet

signed (carbon as well) by both masters

 

Carbon copy of scoresheet dated August 16, 1943. The game was played in the 17th Czechoslovak championship, Main tournament. Written in Pithart's hand, signed (through carbon) by both players. Size 21 x 17 cm.

Good condition: some signs of use, light horizontal center fold. 

Emanuel Basta won in 61 moves.

Biographical data:

Frantisek Pithart (1915-2003), Czech master (since 1951) and noted trainer. One of the best Czech players after wws. He participated many times in the finals of Czechoslovak championships - his best results were 2x shared third place in 1955 and 1965. He represented Czechoslovakia in the chess olympiad Helsinki 1952 and in European team championship 1957. Author of many books and articles.

Emanuel Basta (1915-1992), was a Czech master, in 1949 he emigrated to Australia, where he was one of the strongest players. He played several times in Czechoslovak Congresses (Main tournaments) and in Australian championships. Champion of State of Victoria 1957, 1958, 1960, champion of Melbourne 1966 and 1968.
