"CHESS, Sutton Coldfield, Volume 1". Edited by B.H.Wood. Bound in publisher's brown hardback. Magazine issue numbers 1 - 12, inclusive (Sept 1935 - Aug 1936). In addition, bound in at the end of the volume is the Sept 1936 issue of the magazine with 40 extra pages in Issue Number 13. A total of 476 + 40pp. Betts 7-91. Di Felice 491. No index. The volume is in Good condition for its age. The boards are clean but have signs of age and small stains or scuff marks on them. The binding is good (not "tight" as there is movement to the spine). There is no shelf lean present. There is a shop sticker on the front pastedown. The gilt lettering on the spine has faded but is just readable. Internally the pages are all very clean and inscription free. The volume has some foxing to the pastedowns and endpapers but it peters out soon afterwards. None of the pages have the often seen vertical postal crease. Internal magazine pages are a little tanned from age only. Scarce. Games are in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request. Quite heavy (around 1065g unpacked). 'Signed For' postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £5.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details.
