COPY NO.159 (OF A LIMITED EDITION OF 300.) BOUND IN FULL LEATHER, WITH BRASS STUDS, IN IMITATION OF ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT BINDING, spine very rubbed and splits to joints, the original clasp now missing, some stains to covers. Internally very good.
Illustrated with coloured frontispiece and 38 double-page reproductions from the original manuscript, 68pp text including short narratives of Cessolis, Philidor and La Bourdonnais. LN 2362.
Magee founded the Good Companion Chess Problem Club in 1913, named after his translation of Bonus Socius, the 13th century manuscript written in Lombardy. A RARE WORK, especially with original binding still intact. A prize presentation copy inscribed from Magee to T.R.Dawson. With a stamp of the BCPS on endpaper.
