Marratxí, Club d'Escacs Maria de la Salut, 2008. Original softback edition. 265 pages. 24 x 16,5 cm. In Majorcan (very similar to Catalan).
Good to very good: The first 5 photos are from the current auction book. The other 8 are archive images from a 2016 sale. Please, I apologize for the blurry appearance of photos 8, 10 and 11, due to my mistake in capturing the photograph, although they serve enough to intuit and assess the photographic material contained in said photos. The book only has one flaw, visible on the front cover, which is a vertical fold near the spine. It is certain that it is due to the (excessively comfortable) reading habit of a former owner, opening the book with an angle close to 180º, and it will probably have contributed that the gluing on the spine is somewhat excessive and did not allow the book to be opened comfortably. Inside there is very occasionally some light pencil underlining, easily erasable. Otherwise inside in very good condition.
The book is divided into the following sections:
1- Introduction. Pages 5-8.
2- Biography in VI chapters, including 27 Crosstables, some caricature and photography, and an excellent photographic reportage on pages 127-134. Pages 9-178.
3- Theoretical contributions. Pages 179-193.
4- Commented Games. Pages 195-256.
5- Indexes of tournaments and commentators. Pages 257-265.
Arturo Pomar, Spanish Chess Grandmaster, child prodigy, made draw at age 13 with the World Champion Alekhine, in the tournament of Gijón in 1944. Arturo was the chess world sensation in the 1940s.
