DESCRIPTION

"LA GENESI DELLE POSIZIONI" by Luigi Ceriani

1st 1961 LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 200 COPIES

VERY RARE AND EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND

Ceriani, Luigi: "LA GENESI DELLE POSIZIONI". Dr.ING. LUIGI CERIANI.

Milano, self-published, 1961. Original publisher blue linen hardback edition without prints. Frontispiece with the Ceriani's Portrait + 288 pages (including Title page) + 1 unnumbered page (a kind of Frontispiece of the last page 288). 25,1 x 18 cm. In Italian. This is the original 1961 hardcover 1st Edition, not the 1983 paperback reprint.

On page 287 the data of the Limited Edition appears:

"E così anche questo mio secondo libro (pure litografato in 200 copie come "32 P. e 1 A.") è finito."

"And so this second book of mine (also lithographed in 200 copies as "32 P. e 1 A.") is finished." (Google Translator)

Very good: Very lightly soiled covers. Inked title on front cover. Stamp of British Chess Problem Society Library on inside covers, inked number on spine and top edge of page block. Inside in excellent condition, without writings.

Sanvito 768; Kieler Schachkatalog 6342.

A 1983 reprint exists. In the photos of the Auction 59 of KLITTICH - PFANKUCH (June 2011), 1983 is clearly seen in front cover, in addition to mentioning in the description that it is a paperback.

This book complements and can be said to be the 2nd part of the Luigi Ceriani's monumental work "32 Personaggi e 1 Autore" published in 1955. Essays on retrograde analysis with 155 chess problems, mainly by by the author (135, many unpublished), Luis Garaza (special collaboration with 16), Petrović (2), Ferrari (1) and Leclercq (1).

Luigi Ceriani (23-01-1894 – 08-10-1969) Italian composer

Luigi Ceriani is renowned for his retro problems and for the theme that wears his name, but he also composed selfmates or directmates. More than 600 of his problems can be seen on the Chess Problem Database Server.
Readers may consult online Nikita Plaksin and Igor Vereshchagin's article about Luigi Ceriani's retro works in Best Problems : the article can be seen here.
Luigi Ceriani also wrote two books, "32 Personaggi e 1 Autore" (1955) and "La genesi delle posizioni" (1961), about chess retroanalysis.
