"The British Chess Magazine, 1892 (Vol 12)" edited by R.F. Green. Published in London by Trubner & Co. First Edition. Betts 7-27. 552pp. Includes index. The volume binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. However, as can be seen from the scanned images, the outer boards have suffered considerable damage at some point in the past. The spine area was so badly damaged that a full length piece of leather has been added to keep the volume in tact. It certainly feels secure now. Two corners of the boards were badly eroded with loss to the leather tips and these, similarly, have had a piece of leather replacement (see scans). Internally the volume is in much better condition. The volume pages are all clean and inscription free although all the pages suffer from strong age toning. The last 100 or so pages have a rippling effect to extremities as though having been water damaged in the distant past (see scans). The volume is free of foxing. The page edge blocks are heavily tanned from age. I would rate the volume as being in Poor condition externally but Good Plus condition internally. Scarce. Games and positions are given in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request. 'Signed For' postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £5.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details.
