"The British Chess Magazine, 1893 (Vol 13)" edited by R.F. Green. Published in London by Trubner & Co. First Edition. Betts 7-27. 558pp. Includes index. The volume is in Good Plus overall condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards are clean with just minor superficial damage to the spine and board tips to note. The spine has raised bands and the gilt lettering is still strong. Internally the volume is in Very Good condition for its age. There is a penned entry on the front endpaper stating that the volume was once the property of the Birmingham Chess Club and another penned entry on the second endpaper stating that the volume was donated to the BCC by "Mr.T. Midgley" in 1954 (see scans). Thereafter the volume is very clean and appears to be inscription/annotation and foxing free. It has clearly been well cared for over the years. The page edge blocks are tanned from age but still retain the faded marble effect seen on the front and rear pastedowns (see scans). Scarce. Games and positions are given in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request. 'Signed For' postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £5.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details.
