DESCRIPTION

"CHESS, Volume 12" edited by B.H.Wood. Published in brown hardback by CHESS, Sutton Coldfield in 1947. First Edition. 366pp. No Index. Magazine numbers 133-144, inclusive (Oct 1946 - Sept 1947). Betts 7-91. The volume is in Good Plus overall condition for its age. The boards are clean, the binding is good (not "tight" as there is a fair amount of give in it) and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The gilt lettering on the spine area has strongly faded and is now hardly visible. The page edge block is tanned from age. The internal pages are all clean and inscription/annotation/foxing free. The quality of paper available so soon after WW2 was quite poor by modern standards and this has resulted in mild tanning to all the internal pages but this is not as strong as some volumes I have seen. Many of the internal pages have the often seen vertical crease from having been in the post, back in the day. Previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown. The volume has a mild musty odour, as often found. Games and positions are in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request. Uninsured postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £3.50. Postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. PLEASE NOTE: AUCTION ITEMS WON FROM BIDDERS IN THE EU (and The USA, etc) WILL HAVE THEIR GOODS POSTED FROM THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND (part of the EU) AND THIS WILL, HOPEFULLY, AVOID THE NEW BREXIT POSTAL TAX. (N.B. Customers in the GB area will have their goods posted from Northern Ireland - part of GB - as usual). Any questions, please just ask.
