A.J. Gillam: Mannheim 1914 and the Interned Russians.
The Mannheim tournament was broken off after 11 of 17 rounds in the Master tournament with Alekhine in the lead. This work includes 91 games from the Master tournament, 27 games from Hauptturnier A, 60 games from Hauptturnier B and 3 games from the Nebenturniere. The chapter The Russian Story (pp 190-444) has among others biographies of about 30 players such as Simon Alapin, Dawid Przepiórka, Peter Potemkim, Simon Rotenstein, Julius Sosnitsky, Nikolay Rudnev and Salomon Szapiro. Internment - the Background is another large part of the chapter. From the interned tournaments in Baden Baden 1914 and Triberg 1914-1917 103 games are presented.
