The Chess Player's Chronicle was an English chess magazine published from 1841 to 1852, 1853 to 1856, 1859 to 1862 and 1877 to 1902.
The last series of the magazine was published in London between 1877 and 1902. In total, 18 volumes and 537 issues were published. The first 4 volumes were published monthly, from the 5th edition the magazine was published weekly (irregularly). Publication was suspended between June 1892 - February 1895, March 1896 - February 1899 and July 1899 - December 1899. Issues 49-343 (1881-1888) were published under the title The Chess Player's Chronicle and Journal of Indoor and Outdoor Amusements and issues 509-537 (1901-1902) under the title The Chess Chronicle. The main editor of most volumes was Charles Edward Ranken (1828-1905).
The Chess Player's Chronicle is a rare magazine, especially its later editions. As far as I know, the 1884/1885 - 1902 volumes have never been offered at the Klittich or LSAK auctions.
Condition - Good Minus: private half-cloth binding without lettering, binding is worn, stamps of Chess Club Dobrusky, pages 69-70 a bit torn in the lower corner, a few pages a bit soiled and with folds, issue 375 is bound behind issue 376.
