Carl XII och Fredrik II spela schack, och Napoléon ser på spelet - CE Erlandssons new-year gift 1995 (signed).
Carl-Eric Erlandsson issued eight new-year gifts 1988-1996, each printed in 99 copies distributed to his chess friends.
This issue contains a reprint from Magasin för Konst, Nyheter och Moder, no. VII July 1834. The plate was printed in the lithographical work "Miscellaneous Sketches of Contrats" (London, 1931) by the Swedish count Hjalmar Mörner (Stockholm 7.v.1794 - Paris 15.ix.1937). His uncle Axel Otto Mörner wrote a jokingly piece of poetry, in which Carl XII had som employment problems during his stay at Valhalla, so he challenged 'Fritz' to a game of chess. Suddenly Napoleon appeared directly from Saint Helena ...(!)
