"Mr.Blackburne's Games at Chess (Selected, annotated and arranged by himself)" edited by P. Anderson Graham. Published in hardback by Longmans, Green & Co in 1899. First Edition. 331pp. Includes frontispiece and facsimile signature opposite the title page and under tissue covering. The book is in Good Minus overall condition for its age (123 years old!). The binding is good (not "tight" as there is a little bit of give in it) and the book stands straight with no self lean or bowing present. The boards are only in Fair condition as they have what appears to be dried liquid staining and the superficial covering on the spine has come away from its binding (see scans). The page edge block is heavily tanned from age and handling (see scan). Indeed, the whole book gives the impression of having been well read. Internally the book is in better condition with generally clean pages that have the occasional light pencil annotation from a previous owner and specks stains here and there that are commensurate with age (see scan). A good reading copy. That said, this is still a rare 19thC chess title and quite collectible. No dustjacket, presumably as published. Games are in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request. Heavy! Postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £4.00. Postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. PLEASE NOTE: AUCTION ITEMS WON FROM BIDDERS IN THE EU (and The USA, etc) WILL HAVE THEIR GOODS POSTED FROM THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND (part of the EU) AND THIS WILL, HOPEFULLY, AVOID THE NEW BREXIT POSTAL TAX. (N.B. Customers in the GB area will have their goods posted from Northern Ireland - part of GB - as usual). Any questions, please just ask.
