A rare book by William Shinkman. Apart from chess it deals, among other things, with checkers, whist and mathematical problems. Regarding chess it includes 8 chess problems and 2 games.
William Anthony Shinkman (1847 - 1933) along with Samuel Loyd, is considered the most important American composer of chess problems of all time. He composed about 3500 chess problems of various themes. Shinkman has Czech roots, was born in the Czech city of Liberec. When he was seven years old, his parents emigrated with him to America.
Condition - Good: spine with small tears at the top and bottom, staples rusty, pages 9-12 uncut at the top.
