Marco Georg. Das Internationale Gambitturnier in Baden bei Wien 1914. Sammlung aller Partien mit ausführlichen Erläuterungen. Wien, Wiener Schachzeitung, 1916. In German. 184 pages. LN 5318.
All 90 games from the tournament with annotations.
New private binding with original softcover bound in.
Exlibris Karel Treybal, who is signed on the cover.
Karel Treybal (1885-1941) was a Czech chess master, member of Czech chess national team and silver medallist at the 1933 Chess Olympiad in Folkestone. At the tournament in Karlsbad he led for a long time, beating for example Alekhine, Nimzowitsch and Spielmann, but after a weaker finish he ended up in 6th-7th place. He was not a fighter, played conciliatory and was almost always willing to accept a draw, often depriving himself of valuable half points. Younger brother of Frantisek Treybal.
Condition - Good or Better: new private binding with lettering on spine and original softcover bound in, original softcover slightly soiled with some writings and signature of Karel Treybal.
