DESCRIPTION

"CHESS, Sutton Coldfield. Volume 16". Privately bound in black hardback. All twelve magazines for Volume 16 (Oct 1950 - Sept 1951, Magazine Numbers 181 to 192, inclusive). 288pp. Betts 7-91. No index. The volume is in Good Plus condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards are very clean and the gilt lettering on the spine is still bright. The page edge block has tanned from age. Internally the volume has all 12 monthly issues with - unusually - their covers bound in. The magazines are a bit "hit and miss" condition-wise as some are very clean and have no vertical postal crease (see, for example, 8th scanned image) while others have strong scuff marks and the vertical crease (see, for example, 5th and 6th scanned images). The rear cover of issue #192 has small chips missing to its edges (see 14th and 15th scanned images). The volume is inscription and foxing free although there is the very occasional pen tick on games pages and a reference to a game at the foot of one cover (see 9th scanned image). There is a previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown. There is a mild musty odour to the volume, as often encountered with these magazines. Games are in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request. Uninsured postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £3.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. PLEASE NOTE: AUCTION ITEMS WON FROM BIDDERS IN THE EU (and The USA, etc) WILL HAVE THEIR GOODS POSTED FROM THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND (part of the EU) AND THIS WILL, HOPEFULLY, AVOID THE NEW BREXIT POSTAL TAX. (N.B. Customers in the GB area will have their goods posted from Northern Ireland - part of GB - as usual). Any questions, please just ask. Any questions, please just ask.
