"The British Chess Magazine, 1898 (Vol 18)" edited by I.M. Brown. Published in maroon hardback in London by Trubner & Co. First Edition. Betts 7-27. 528pp. Includes index. The volume is in Good Plus overall condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no bowing present although there is a mild shelf lean. The boards are clean with just minor superficial damage to the spine and board tips to note. The gilt lettering on the spine has faded away but the lettering can still, just, be read (see scan). Internally the volume is in Good Plus condition for its age. There are dried liquid stains on the first 6 or so pages to note but I did not find any other stained pages (see scans). The volume appears to be inscription/annotation and foxing free. The internal pages have yellowed from age and browned around the edges but that is inevitable given the age of the book. It has clearly been cared for over the years. The page edge blocks are tanned from age but still retain the red marble effect that was in common usage back in the day. Scarce. Games and positions are given in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request. Heavy. 'Signed For' postage by Royal Mail within the UK is £5.00. Airmail postage to Europe and elsewhere will be extra - please ask me for details. PLEASE NOTE: AUCTION ITEMS WON FROM BIDDERS IN THE EU (and The USA, etc) WILL HAVE THEIR GOODS POSTED FROM THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND (part of the EU) AND THIS WILL, HOPEFULLY, AVOID THE NEW BREXIT POSTAL TAX. (N.B. Customers in the GB area will have their goods posted from Northern Ireland - part of GB - as usual). Any questions, please just ask.
